Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Daunorubicin and cytarabine liposome (CPX-351) is a liposomal encapsulation of the anthracycline daunorubicin and the antimetabolite cytarabine in a fixed 1:5 molar ratio. This formulation is designed to optimize the synergistic delivery of the two drugs to leukemia cells while reducing systemic toxicity. It is primarily used for the treatment of adults with newly-diagnosed therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (t-AML) or AML with myelodysplasia-related changes (AML-MRC). CSPC Zhongnuo Pharmaceutical is developing a generic version of this liposomal formulation, which is currently undergoing bioequivalence studies to demonstrate parity with the reference drug, Vyxeos.
