Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CPX-351 (Vyxeos) is a liposomal encapsulation of cytarabine and daunorubicin in a fixed 5:1 molar ratio. It is designed to optimize the synergistic delivery of these two chemotherapy agents to bone marrow cells while reducing systemic toxicity. Cytarabine is a pyrimidine analog that inhibits DNA polymerase, while daunorubicin is an anthracycline that intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II. It was developed by Celator Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Jazz Pharmaceuticals) and is primarily indicated for the treatment of adults with newly-diagnosed therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (t-AML) or AML with myelodysplasia-related changes (AML-MRC).
