Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Davanat + 5-fluorouracil + leucovorin + bevacizumab** is a multi-agent chemotherapy regimen investigated primarily in oncology, notably for metastatic colorectal cancer. Davanat is a galactomannan polymer developed to enhance the efficacy and reduce the toxicity of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), a pyrimidine analog antimetabolite that inhibits thymidylate synthase. Leucovorin (folinic acid) is used to increase the activity of 5-FU by stabilizing its binding to thymidylate synthase. Bevacizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), blocking angiogenesis necessary for tumor growth and metastasis[1][3][5].
