Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Davinefrina is an ophthalmic topical formulation containing 10% phenylephrine hydrochloride, developed and marketed by the Portuguese pharmaceutical company DÁVI (DAVI II - Farmacêutica, S.A.). As a sympathomimetic small molecule, phenylephrine acts as a potent alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist, inducing rapid pupil dilation (mydriasis) and vasoconstriction to reduce capillary congestion. It is indicated for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures requiring mydriasis, as adjuvant therapy for anterior uveitis to prevent or treat posterior synechiae, for the temporary reduction of intraocular pressure in open-angle glaucoma, and for the management of ptosis. The product is approved and marketed in Portugal as a sterile 100 mg/ml eye drop solution.
