Overview

Daysee is an extended-cycle combined oral contraceptive indicated for the prevention of pregnancy. It contains two hormones: levonorgestrel (a progestin) and ethinyl estradiol (an estrogen). Each 91-day pack consists of 84 tablets containing 0.15 mg levonorgestrel and 0.03 mg ethinyl estradiol, followed by 7 tablets containing only 0.01 mg ethinyl estradiol[1][3]. The primary mechanism of action is suppression of ovulation; additional effects include thickening cervical mucus to inhibit sperm penetration and altering the endometrial lining to reduce the likelihood of implantation[2][5][6]. Besides contraception, Daysee may also be prescribed for acne management, reduction in ovarian cyst risk (such as in polycystic ovarian syndrome), treatment of heavy or painful periods, and menstrual regulation[5][6]. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
