Overview

DBI-002 is a topical live biotherapeutic product (LBP) developed by DermBiont, Inc. for the treatment of fungal skin and nail infections. Formulated as an aqueous gel, DBI-002 contains a specific live bacterial strain that acts as a probiotic to restore a healthy skin microbiome and inhibit the growth of dermatophytes, such as *Trichophyton rubrum*. The candidate has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for several indications, including interdigital tinea pedis (athlete's foot), onychomycosis (nail fungus), and tinea versicolor. Unlike traditional chemical antifungal agents, DBI-002 utilizes a microbiome-based approach to exert antimicrobial effects and improve local tolerability.
