DBV712 Viaskin® is an epicutaneous immunotherapy (EPIT) patch developed by DBV Technologies for the treatment of peanut allergy. This patch-based system delivers microgram amounts of peanut protein (allergen) to the intact non-vascularized epidermis. The mechanism involves the absorption of the allergen by antigen-presenting cells, such as Langerhans cells, which then migrate to lymph nodes. In the lymph nodes, these cells induce specific T-regulatory cells that work to suppress the allergic response, thereby desensitizing the individual to peanuts and reducing the severity of allergic reactions upon exposure. The product is primarily indicated for peanut allergy in children.
