Overview

DC101 is a rat-derived monoclonal antibody (IgG1κ) that targets and neutralizes mouse vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2, also known as Flk-1, KDR, CD309). It is classified as an antineoplastic agent and an angiogenesis inhibitor. Its primary mechanism is the inhibition of VEGFR-2-mediated signaling, which suppresses angiogenesis and thereby limits tumor growth and metastasis in preclinical cancer models. Additional mechanistic effects include antibody-dependent cell cytotoxicity and immunostimulatory activity. DC101 has been widely used in mouse tumor models to block murine VEGFR-2, but it does not cross-react with human VEGFR-2 and was thus not developed for human clinical use. The original developer was ImClone Systems, later acquired by Eli Lilly. Its use is restricted to preclinical research as development for human cancer therapy was discontinued due to species specificity[1][2][3].
