**DCR-PCSK9** is an investigational RNA interference (RNAi) therapeutic agent designed to inhibit proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (**PCSK9**), a protein that regulates **LDL receptor** degradation on hepatocytes. By silencing **PCSK9** expression via RNAi, it promotes **LDL receptor** recycling, increasing hepatic uptake and clearance of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (**LDL-C**) from circulation, thereby reducing circulating **LDL-C** levels. Initially developed by **Dicerna Pharmaceuticals**, it targets hypercholesterolemia and cardiovascular risk reduction, offering potential advantages over monoclonal antibody inhibitors through infrequent subcutaneous dosing.
