Overview

DCR-STAT3 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic designed to inhibit the expression of the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) protein, a transcription factor implicated in oncogenesis and tumor progression. By leveraging RNA interference, DCR-STAT3 specifically targets and reduces STAT3 mRNA levels, thereby decreasing STAT3 protein activity within cancer cells. The drug is being developed for the treatment of solid tumors, particularly in patients with refractory or metastatic disease who have failed standard therapies. Originally developed by Dicerna Pharmaceuticals, clinical development has also involved Novo Nordisk. The drug is administered intravenously as a sterile solution[1][2][4][7].
