Overview

DCTY0801 is an autologous Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor variant III (EGFRvIII), a tumor-specific mutation found in approximately 30% of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) cases but absent in healthy tissues. Developed by Beijing Dingcheng Peptide Source Biotechnology (a subsidiary of Northeast Pharmaceutical), the therapy involves harvesting a patient's own T lymphocytes and genetically engineering them to express a CAR that specifically recognizes the neoepitope created by the EGFRvIII deletion. Once re-infused, these engineered cells induce targeted immunologic cytotoxicity against EGFRvIII-positive tumor cells. DCTY0801 is primarily investigated for the treatment of recurrent or progressive high-grade gliomas, including glioblastoma, and can be administered via intravenous infusion or locally through an Ommaya reservoir (intracerebroventricularly) to ensure penetration of the blood-brain barrier. The drug has received Orphan Drug Designation from the U.S. FDA.
