Overview

DCvac is an autologous, engineered dendritic cell vaccine developed by the Shenzhen Geno-Immune Medical Institute for the treatment of multiple myeloma and plasmacytoma. The therapy involves the isolation of a patient's own dendritic cells, which are then immune-modified—typically using lentiviral vectors—to enhance their ability to present tumor-associated antigens to the immune system. Once re-infused, these modified dendritic cells stimulate a targeted T-cell response, specifically activating cytotoxic T lymphocytes to recognize and destroy residual malignant plasma cells. This vaccine is primarily being investigated as a maintenance therapy to prolong remission and prevent relapse in patients who have already achieved a clinical response through standard-of-care treatments such as chemotherapy or autologous stem cell transplantation.
