DCVax-Direct is an autologous dendritic cell therapy developed for the treatment of inoperable solid tumors. The therapy involves collecting a patient's monocytes via leukapheresis, differentiating them into partially matured dendritic cells ex vivo, and then injecting these activated cells directly into the tumor. Once inside the tumor, these dendritic cells pick up tumor antigens in situ and subsequently migrate to lymph nodes to stimulate a systemic anti-tumor immune response by mobilizing T cells, B cells, and other immune effectors. This approach aims to induce both innate and adaptive immunity against cancer with minimal toxicity. DCVax-Direct is being investigated for use across a wide range of solid tumors that are considered unresectable or inoperable due to location or multiplicity[1][2][3][4][7].
