Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DCVax-L + temozolomide is a combination therapy that pairs an autologous tumor lysate-loaded dendritic cell vaccine (DCVax-L) with standard-of-care temozolomide chemotherapy. DCVax-L works by using a patient's own tumor cells combined with their dendritic cells to stimulate an immune response against the cancer. The vaccine is created by extracting dendritic cells from the patient's blood, exposing them to proteins from the patient's tumor, and then reinjecting these "educated" cells to help the immune system recognize and attack the cancer cells. When combined with temozolomide, this therapy has shown significant survival benefits for patients with newly diagnosed and recurrent glioblastoma[1][2].
