DCVax-Prostate is an autologous dendritic cell-based vaccine developed by Northwest Biotherapeutics for the treatment of prostate cancer. The manufacturing process involves collecting a patient's own monocytes via leukapheresis, differentiating them into dendritic cells, and pulsing them with prostate-specific antigens, most notably Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA). These activated dendritic cells are then administered back to the patient, typically via intradermal injection, where they present the antigens to T-cells, thereby priming the immune system to identify and eliminate prostate cancer cells. This personalized immunotherapy approach is designed to enhance the body's natural anti-tumor response while maintaining a favorable safety profile.
