Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DD-S052P is a novel peptide-based therapeutic developed by HLB Science (and its subsidiary Dandi Bioscience) for the treatment of sepsis. It employs a dual mechanism of action: it directly binds to and lyses the membranes of Gram-negative bacteria while simultaneously sequestering the resulting lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or endotoxins from the microenvironment. This approach is designed to not only eliminate the causative bacteria but also to suppress the hyperinflammatory response, or cytokine storm, triggered by endotoxin release—a common complication of traditional antibiotic treatments. DD-S052P is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers.
