DDCI-01

DDCI-01 is a novel, long-acting small molecule inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type 5A (PDE5A), developed primarily for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension and related conditions. It acts by inhibiting PDE5A, leading to increased levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in vascular smooth muscle cells, resulting in vasodilation and reduced pulmonary vascular resistance. Preclinical studies have shown that DDCI-01 reduces mean pulmonary arterial pressure, right ventricular hypertrophy, and medial wall thickness in animal models of pulmonary hypertension. In clinical development, it has reached Phase 2 trials for indications including erectile dysfunction, prostatic hyperplasia (benign prostatic hyperplasia), lower urinary tract symptoms, and idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension. The drug is administered orally.
