Overview

DDH-LSD (1,2-didehydro-LSD) is a novel lysergamide derivative and analog of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) being developed and investigated by the University Hospital, Basel. It is characterized as a psychedelic compound with a pharmacological profile similar to LSD but specifically engineered or selected for a significantly shorter duration of action, which may offer clinical advantages in psychedelic-assisted therapy by reducing the time required for supervision. Like its parent compound LSD, DDH-LSD acts as a potent agonist at the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor, which is the primary mediator of its psychedelic and subjective effects. It also exhibits activity at other serotonin receptor subtypes (such as 5-HT1A and 5-HT2C) and dopamine receptors. It is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation to characterize its pharmacokinetics, safety, and subjective effects in healthy volunteers.
