Overview

DDP-225 is a small molecule thienopyrimidine analog that acts as both a selective noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor and a serotonin type 3 receptor (5-HT3) antagonist. This dual mechanism targets neurotransmitter systems involved in mood regulation and gastrointestinal function. The drug was developed for oral administration with the aim of treating irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), particularly diarrhea-predominant IBS (IBS-d), overactive bladder, major depressive disorder, and nausea/vomiting. It was originally developed by Mitsubishi Chemical and later licensed to Dynogen Pharmaceuticals[1][2][4][5][6].
