Overview
DE-104 is a small molecule Rho-associated kinase (ROCK) inhibitor that was developed as an ophthalmic solution for the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The drug was discovered through joint research by Santen Pharmaceutical and Ube Industries, who identified its potential to lower intraocular pressure by facilitating aqueous humor outflow via a novel mechanism distinct from existing anti-glaucoma agents. Despite initial promise, development of DE-104 was discontinued after Phase II clinical trials in both Japan and the USA for these indications.
