Overview
DE-120 is a dual inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), developed for the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration. The drug was being developed by Santen, a company specializing in ophthalmic pharmaceuticals. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting both VEGF-A and PDGF pathways, which are implicated in abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage in the eye, characteristic of wet age-related macular degeneration. Development was discontinued after phase II clinical trials[1].
