DE486 is a potent, small-molecule agonist of the Stimulator of Interferon Genes (STING) protein, developed by D&E Biopharmaceuticals. STING is a critical component of the innate immune system that, upon activation, triggers the production of Type I interferons and other pro-inflammatory cytokines. This process enhances the recruitment and activation of dendritic cells and T-cells within the tumor microenvironment, potentially converting "cold" tumors into "hot" tumors and overcoming resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors.
