Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Debio 1454 is an investigational, pathogen‑specific antibiotic being developed by Debiopharm for the treatment of infections caused by multidrug‑resistant Acinetobacter baumannii, particularly hospital‑acquired pneumonia. It belongs to a new class of FabI (enoyl‑acyl carrier protein reductase) inhibitors that block bacterial fatty acid biosynthesis, an essential pathway for cell membrane and cell wall formation, leading to bacterial cell death while aiming to spare the commensal microbiome and reduce selection for resistance.[5][13]
