Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DEBIRI + FOLFOX is a combination treatment regimen evaluated in the FFCD 1201 Phase II clinical trial for patients with colorectal cancer and unresectable liver metastases. The regimen combines locoregional and systemic therapies: intra-arterial hepatic drug-eluting beads loaded with irinotecan (DEBIRI) and systemic mFOLFOX6 chemotherapy. DEBIRI involves the use of DC Beads (manufactured by Biocompatibles/BTG) to deliver irinotecan directly into the hepatic arteries via transarterial chemoembolization, providing high local concentrations of the drug while minimizing systemic exposure. This is combined with systemic FOLFOX chemotherapy, which consists of oxaliplatin, leucovorin, and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). The dual approach aims to achieve local tumor control in the liver while simultaneously providing systemic disease control. The trial, sponsored by the Fédération Francophone de Cancérologie Digestive (FFCD), demonstrated high disease control rates and enabled secondary surgical resection in a significant portion of patients.
