Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Decamethoxine is a broad-spectrum antiseptic and cationic gemini surfactant with pronounced antibacterial and fungicidal activity. It acts by disrupting the cell wall of microorganisms, leading to their disintegration. Decamethoxine is effective against a wide range of bacteria (including Burkholderia and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and fungi. It is used primarily in Ukraine and Russia for the treatment of purulent bacterial and fungal skin diseases, microbial eczema, purulent-inflammatory lesions of soft tissues, dental diseases, inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (including nosocomial pneumonia), among other conditions[1][4][6]. Its mechanism involves reducing microbial adhesion to surfaces as well as direct bactericidal action[8].
