Overview

Decellularized human amniotic membrane (dAM) hydrogel is a bioactive, injectable scaffold derived from human amniotic tissue. The amniotic membrane is processed through a decellularization protocol to remove resident cells, which minimizes host immunogenicity and the risk of transplant rejection while preserving the structural and biochemical integrity of the extracellular matrix. By transforming the thin amniotic membrane into a hydrogel form, the material becomes injectable, allowing for precise delivery into small or complex anatomical sites such as large macular holes. The hydrogel maintains the regenerative properties of the native tissue, including the promotion of angiogenesis and the provision of anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and antibacterial cues, which collectively support tissue repair and anatomical closure in ophthalmological and other regenerative applications.
