Decidua stromal cell 2.0 is an investigational cell therapy product developed by Oslo University Hospital (Oslo Universitetssykehus HF) for the treatment of severe, steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease (aGvHD). The therapy consists of mesenchymal-like stromal cells isolated from the decidua layer of the human placenta. These cells possess unique immunomodulatory properties, including the ability to inhibit T-cell proliferation and modulate the production of inflammatory cytokines. The 2.0 version represents an optimized manufacturing process designed to enhance the consistency and potency of the cells for clinical use. In clinical trials, DSC 2.0 is administered intravenously to patients who have failed first-line corticosteroid treatment following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, aiming to reduce systemic inflammation and tissue damage.
