Overview

Dectrekumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody developed by Novartis that specifically targets interleukin-13 (IL-13), a cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of various allergic and inflammatory diseases. By binding to IL-13 with high affinity, dectrekumab neutralizes its activity, thereby inhibiting downstream signaling pathways associated with TH2-driven immune responses. This mechanism is relevant in conditions such as asthma, eosinophilic esophagitis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, keloids, Crohn's disease, and seasonal allergic rhinitis. Dectrekumab reached Phase 2 clinical trials for several indications but development has been discontinued for all known indications[1][3][6][8].
