DeepTag-GPRC5D targeted CAR T-cells are a form of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy engineered to target the G protein-coupled receptor class C group 5 member D (GPRC5D), which is highly expressed on malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma. The therapy involves collecting a patient's own T lymphocytes, genetically modifying them ex vivo with a lentiviral vector encoding a synthetic receptor that recognizes GPRC5D, and then reinfusing these modified cells back into the patient. Upon encountering GPRC5D-expressing myeloma cells, the engineered CAR-T cells become activated and mediate cytotoxicity against tumor cells through direct killing and cytokine release. This approach is being developed for patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who have failed prior therapies[2][8][1]. Early clinical studies have shown promising efficacy and safety profiles.
