Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DefenAge 8-in-1 BioSerum is a topical cosmeceutical treatment developed by Progenitor Biologics designed for skin rejuvenation and the reduction of aging signs. The serum's primary active components are 'Age-Repair Defensins,' specifically synthetic versions of alpha-defensin 5 and beta-defensin 3. These peptides function as signaling molecules that specifically target and activate LGR6+ (Leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein coupled receptor 6) stem cells found in the hair follicles. Once activated, these stem cells migrate and differentiate into new, youthful keratinocytes, promoting the regeneration of the epidermis. This mechanism is intended to improve skin thickness, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (including periorbital wrinkles), and enhance skin texture and tone. It is marketed as a non-irritating alternative to traditional retinoids and acid-based anti-aging products.
