Overview

Deflamax is an oral corticosteroid medication developed and marketed by Alteus Biogenics in India. Its active ingredient is deflazacort, a small molecule glucocorticoid pro-drug. Upon administration, it is converted to its active metabolite, 21-desacetyl deflazacort, which binds to the glucocorticoid receptor to exert potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. Deflamax is used to treat a wide range of conditions, including asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, severe allergic reactions, and autoimmune disorders. It is also notably used in the management of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) to help maintain muscle strength and function.
