Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Deflet is an oral tablet formulation containing 6 mg of deflazacort, a synthetic glucocorticoid developed by the Indian pharmaceutical company Droplet Life Science. As a prodrug, deflazacort is rapidly converted into its active metabolite, 21-desacetyldeflazacort, which functions as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist. It is indicated for a variety of inflammatory and immune-mediated conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, and nephrotic syndrome. Deflet is characterized by a safety profile that potentially offers a lower risk of osteoporosis and growth retardation compared to other corticosteroids due to its reduced impact on calcium metabolism.
