Overview

Defnac is a branded generic version of diclofenac sodium, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) developed and marketed by Panacea Pharmaceuticals, a pharmaceutical company based in Islamabad, Pakistan. As a generic medication, Defnac is utilized for the management of acute and chronic pain and inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Its mechanism of action involves the non-selective inhibition of the enzymes cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). By inhibiting these enzymes, Defnac reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are key lipid mediators of the inflammatory response, pain signaling, and fever. The product is available in various systemic formulations, such as oral tablets and injectable solutions, to provide relief for musculoskeletal disorders and other painful conditions.
