Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DehydraTECH-PDE5 is an investigational oral formulation of a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, developed by Cannabis Delivery Sciences (a subsidiary of Lexaria Bioscience). The product utilizes the proprietary DehydraTECH drug-delivery platform, which combines active pharmaceutical ingredients with long-chain fatty acids (such as oleic acid) followed by a dehydration process to enhance intestinal absorption and bypass first-pass liver metabolism. This technology is intended to increase the bioavailability and speed of onset for PDE5 inhibitors, which are primarily indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that DehydraTECH-processed sildenafil can achieve significantly higher plasma concentrations and faster delivery into the bloodstream compared to conventional oral formulations.
