Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DehydraTECH-sildenafil is a reformulated version of the phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor sildenafil, developed by Lexaria Bioscience in collaboration with Enertopia. The drug utilizes Lexaria's proprietary DehydraTECH drug delivery platform, which is designed to improve the oral bioavailability, speed of onset, and brain absorption of various active pharmaceutical ingredients. In preclinical animal studies (specifically study PDE5-A21-1), the DehydraTECH formulation delivered 74% more sildenafil into the bloodstream within four minutes compared to a generic control formulation. This technology aims to overcome the typical 1-2 hour delay in effectiveness seen with standard oral PDE5 inhibitors used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
