Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is an endogenous steroid pro-hormone that serves as a precursor for the synthesis of androgens and estrogens within the ovarian follicles. Supplementation is intended to enhance the follicular microenvironment, potentially increasing the number of oocytes retrieved and improving pregnancy outcomes in patients undergoing assisted reproductive technologies like in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Folic acid, a synthetic form of folate (Vitamin B9), is included to support DNA synthesis and cellular division during early embryonic development and to reduce the risk of neural tube defects. The combination is typically administered orally as part of a pre-treatment regimen before ovarian stimulation.
