Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Delflex is an FDA-approved peritoneal dialysis solution used for the treatment of chronic kidney failure (end-stage renal disease) in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis. Developed by Fresenius Medical Care, it consists of a sterile, non-pyrogenic combination of electrolytes (sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, and sodium lactate) and an osmotic agent (dextrose monohydrate). The solution is administered intraperitoneally, where the dextrose creates an osmotic gradient across the peritoneal membrane to remove excess fluid and metabolic waste products from the blood. It is available in various formulations, including low-magnesium and low-calcium options, to tailor treatment to individual patient needs.
