Overview

Deligoparin (deligoparin sodium, code name OP 2000) is an ultra low molecular weight heparin developed as an anticoagulant and antithrombotic agent. It acts primarily as a Factor Xa inhibitor and also inhibits thrombin. Deligoparin was investigated for the treatment of ulcerative colitis and unstable angina pectoris but development was discontinued after reaching phase III clinical trials for ulcerative colitis in the US. The drug was originally developed by Opocrin[1][2]. As a member of the low molecular weight heparins class, it exerts its effect by potentiating antithrombin activity to inhibit clotting factors involved in thrombosis[1].
