Overview

Delipidated deglycolipidated Mycobacterium vaccae is a modified preparation of the non-pathogenic environmental bacterium *Mycobacterium vaccae*, in which lipids and glycolipids have been removed through chemical extraction processes[3][4]. This formulation is designed to reduce reactogenicity while retaining immunomodulatory properties. It has been investigated as an immunotherapeutic agent for immune-mediated diseases such as psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis[3][5], and has also been studied in asthma[1][2]. The mechanism of action involves modulation of immune responses—potentially by shifting T cell activity or acting as an adjuvant to enhance antigen-specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses[4]. The product known as "PVAC" is an investigational new drug registered with the US FDA for clinical trials in psoriasis[3].
