Delparantag is a novel, investigational small molecule and salicylamide derivative developed as a universal anticoagulation-reversing agent. It acts as an antagonist of heparin and low molecular weight heparins (LMWHs), neutralizing their antithrombotic and anticoagulant effects by specifically binding to the pentasaccharide sequence in heparin. This disrupts the interaction between unfractionated or low molecular weight heparins and antithrombin III (SERPINC1), thereby restoring coagulation. Delparantag has demonstrated rapid reversal of anticoagulant effects in clinical trials, normalizing blood-clotting time within minutes. Its primary indications have included reversal of anticoagulation during procedures such as angioplasty, percutaneous coronary intervention, and for patients with coronary artery disease. Development was paused due to hypotension observed in studies; further investigation is required regarding administration protocols[1][2][3][4][5][7].
