Overview

Delpazolid is a next-generation oxazolidinone antibiotic under clinical development for the treatment of tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections. It acts as a protein synthesis inhibitor by targeting the bacterial ribosome (23S rRNA), similar to linezolid but with an improved safety profile. Delpazolid demonstrates activity against multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis and various Gram-positive pathogens including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci. Developed originally by LegoChem Biosciences (now LigaChem Biosciences), it is being evaluated in Phase II trials for pulmonary tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacterial infections[2][3][6][7].
