Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Delsam Pharma Artificial Eye Ointment is an over-the-counter (OTC) ophthalmic lubricant used to relieve dryness and irritation of the eye. It is a non-medicated ointment composed of white petrolatum (83%), mineral oil (15%), and lanolin (2%). The product functions as an ocular emollient, providing a physical barrier and lubrication to the ocular surface to prevent moisture loss and protect against further irritation. It was marketed by Delsam Pharma and manufactured by Global Pharma Healthcare. In February 2023, the product was subject to a voluntary recall following FDA warnings regarding potential bacterial contamination and manufacturing deficiencies at the production facility in India, which were linked to a multistate outbreak of drug-resistant *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*.
