Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Deltamethrin is a pyrethroid pesticide widely utilized for vector control across various sectors, including crops, farming, veterinary medicine, and domestic pest control. Research indicates that repeated exposure to Deltamethrin can lead to neurotoxic effects. Specifically, studies in rats have demonstrated that intranasal administration induces memory and emotional alterations, accompanied by a reduction in tyrosine hydroxylase immunoreactivity in the substantia nigra pars compacta and ventral tegmental area, and an increase in the dorsal striatum. These findings suggest that Deltamethrin can cause an early disruption of the dopaminergic pathway, similar to observations in the initial stages of Parkinson's disease.
