Overview

Demexiptiline is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) primarily used in the treatment of depression. It acts by inhibiting the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin at nerve terminals, thereby increasing their levels in the brain and contributing to its antidepressant effects. Like other TCAs, it may also have anticholinergic and sedative properties. Demexiptiline was developed and marketed mainly in France under brand names such as Deparon and Tinoran for depressive disorders.
