Overview

Demineralized Dentin Graft (DDG) is an autogenous biomaterial used for bone regeneration, specifically in alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) following tooth extraction. Developed and studied by researchers at Ain Shams University, the graft is prepared from the patient's own extracted teeth. The dentin is processed and demineralized to expose the organic matrix and endogenous growth factors, such as Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs), which facilitate osteoinduction and osteoconduction. This material serves as a scaffold to minimize alveolar ridge resorption and maintain bone volume for subsequent dental implant placement. Clinical trials at Ain Shams University have specifically evaluated the influence of different healing intervals (12, 18, and 24 weeks) on the efficacy of the graft in maintaining hard and soft tissue volume.
