Den-PEG is a G5 dendrimer conjugated with polyethylene glycol (PEG), functioning as a core component of a novel multimodal nanoprobe. This nanoprobe is engineered for the imaging of tiny hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by serving as a scaffold for aptamers and imaging reporters. The aptamers specifically target endoglin (CD105), a protein highly expressed in HCC cells and neovasculature. The nanoprobe facilitates the visualization of orthotopic HCC xenografts through near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging and T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), allowing for the clear delineation of tumor margins.
