Dendritic cell activated lymphocyte refers to a type of adoptive cell therapy in which lymphocytes (typically T cells) are activated ex vivo by exposure to antigen-presenting dendritic cells before being infused into a patient. Dendritic cells are potent antigen-presenting cells that, upon activation and maturation, can prime and activate T lymphocytes against specific antigens, such as tumor-associated or pathogen-derived antigens. This approach is used primarily in cancer immunotherapy and experimental treatments for infectious diseases. The process involves isolating dendritic cells from the patient or donor, loading them with relevant antigens (such as tumor peptides), co-culturing them with autologous or allogeneic lymphocytes to induce activation and expansion of antigen-specific effector T cells, and then infusing these activated lymphocytes back into the patient. The goal is to enhance the immune system's ability to recognize and destroy target cells (e.g., cancer). This strategy leverages both the potent priming capacity of dendritic cells and the cytotoxic potential of effector T lymphocytes[4][6][8][10].
