The dendritic-glioma cell fusion vaccine is an investigational autologous cancer immunotherapy designed for the treatment of glioblastoma and other malignant gliomas. It is created by fusing a patient's own dendritic cells (professional antigen-presenting cells) with their tumor (glioma) cells. This process generates hybrid cells that present a broad array of tumor-associated antigens to the immune system, aiming to induce robust anti-tumor T-cell responses. The goal is to stimulate both CD4+ helper and CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes against the patient’s unique tumor antigens, potentially leading to selective elimination of residual tumor cells and prevention of relapse through immunologic memory[1][2][6]. Clinical trials have demonstrated feasibility and safety; however, efficacy data are still emerging[2][7]. The approach may be combined with other therapies such as chemotherapy (temozolomide), radiotherapy, or cytokines like IL-12 to enhance immune activation[2].
