Overview

Dendrophenol, also known as moscatilin, is a naturally occurring bibenzyl polyphenol isolated from orchid species such as *Dendrobium loddigesii* and *Dendrobium senile*. It primarily acts as an inhibitor of the NF-κB signaling pathway, leading to the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines including TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β. Beyond its anti-inflammatory properties, dendrophenol exhibits potent antineoplastic activity by inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in various cancer cell lines, including those of the lung, breast, and colon. Preclinical studies have also highlighted its potential in inhibiting vascular calcification via the WNT3/β-catenin pathway, as well as its antioxidant, antiplatelet, and nephroprotective effects. It is currently utilized as a research-stage compound and is not approved for clinical use.
