Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dengzhan Shengmai is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound formulation primarily used for the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It is typically composed of four herbal extracts: *Erigeron breviscapus* (Dengzhanxixin), *Panax ginseng*, *Ophiopogon japonicus*, and *Schisandra chinensis*. The formulation is designed to promote blood circulation, resolve blood stasis, and replenish "Qi" and "Yin." It is extensively studied in China for the secondary prevention of ischemic stroke, as well as for treating cognitive impairments such as vascular cognitive impairment and amnestic mild cognitive impairment. Additionally, it is being evaluated for its efficacy in patients with coronary heart disease and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). The therapeutic effects are attributed to its ability to improve microcirculation, provide neuroprotection, and exert anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects.
